The Humble Foodie Mission

While we all love to eat well, life as AmeriCorps volunteers doesn’t afford us the budget to try every new restaurant and type of cuisine. With many post-graduate expenses and very limited financial resources, what’s a foodie to do?

The answer is here, at The Humble Foodie. Instead of spending all our hard-earned cash paying other people to cook for us, we’re spending as frugally as possible making delicious meals at home. Kerry and Alicia discovered that a shared a passion for cooking while huffing and puffing up a mountain during our staff retreat. They bonded over their soon-to-be realized dream of owning KitchenAid mixers and celebrated their first baking triumph together with a decadent chocolate cake that took about five hours to make. Devin came on as official taste-tester and blog guru to complete our triumvirate of greatness in the kitchen, and there you have it!

There are many amazing blogs related to cooking and living frugally, but not very many are written from the perspective of recent college graduates cooking for one. We wanted to see pictures of meals that were cheap but still made our mouths water. We wanted to provide recipes that our friends could easily replicate at home- because as much fun as it is to spend an entire Saturday afternoon baking a cake, sometimes even the most passionate cooks need a break.

Until we mix again!
